Context

The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, with biodiversity in severe decline. To restore 30% of nature by 2030, private investment needs to play a central role in filling a US$ 700 billion funding gap.

Seahorse has been working to raise the profile of nature restoration company Nattergal, engaging with key stakeholder groups as the company enters the next stage of commercial growth and starts to sell ecosystem services to private sector customers.

Our activity

Seahorse has provided ongoing integrated communications support to Nattergal since May 2024, initially to manage the PR launch of Essex-based site Harold’s Park Wildland.  Our activity has included holding a series of communication and advocacy workshops for Nattergal team members, mapping out key stakeholders for engagement, identifying barriers, and tailoring messaging to each group. We have delivered refresher sessions periodically to refine messaging, ensuring alignment with evolving commercial objectives.

These workshops have informed the development of our integrated communications strategy, which include journalist relationship building, programmes of local MP engagement, tailored media plans per business milestone, and high-level press coverage and parliamentary engagement.

Our impact

We have built Nattergal’s reputation as a leader in the nature restoration space through PR and public affairs work.  Widespread media coverage has included The Times, The Guardian, BBC Radio Essex, BBC Norfolk, and ITV News London. We have also provided media training to Nattergal spokespeople to ensure consistency of messaging across all the organisations various sites.

Our work has enabled Nattergal to grow its name recognition with a broad range of stakeholder groups including local communities and potential clients.  Raising awareness of their gold-standard approach to nature restoration has opened doors to new commercial opportunities.
