Context

Oceana is the world's largest ocean advocacy organisation but it had a limited presence in the UK before Summer 2023. We’ve been working with the team since launch to bring their science-led expertise to the attention of policy makers and to focus more political attention on marine protection. 

Our activity

Seahorse has developed and supported the delivery of the organisation's political strategy including preparing for and adapting to a new government, providing strategic advice on campaign development, horizon scanning for political engagement opportunities and building political and policy relationships.

We have organised events at Labour Party Conference over the last two years with Ministerial and MP speakers and delivered an event in Parliament for MPs and Lords to demonstrate their backing for this agenda.

Our impact

Our work has cemented Oceana UK as a trusted source of expertise on ocean issues. They have built a growing network of engaged parliamentarians who continue to support their campaigns and highlight their work, and who advocate on their behalf.  From launching in a pre-election political environment, they are now attending roundtables with Government Ministers and Officials and being directly mentioned by those same Ministers in Select Committee hearings celebrating their work.
